My first cat, Samantha, was psycho for green olives with pimentos and corn on the cob and partial to popcorn, as well.

Her daughter, Scheherezade, who was fed supermarket food for most of her life and tried to eat every plastic bag she could get her little teeth into, lived to be nearly twenty, though in her last few years she pretty much ate nothing but Avoderm, which seemed to finally cure her of her allergic dermatitis I'd paid hundreds to experts trying to cure.

After giving birth to her litter, Samantha would often drag home dead animals as big as herself, especially if we happened to be staying at my mom's house. My mother did not appreciate it when Samantha brought rabbits home for dinner, but then, my mom never really learned to cook rabbit, did she?

My last two cats, Thor and Luna, had nothing but the super-duper premium cat food and Thor often ate birds, mice, chipmunks (the neighbors really loved Thor!) and tried to catch this enormous rooster that somehow lived wild in our neighborhood. Thor and Luna each died of mysterious illnesses shortly after their tenth birthdays (just over a year apart).

Perhaps synthetic taurine would have saved their dear little kitty lives. If only we'd known!
